Resources for 14-16 year old Skills for Life learners

A good practice guide, case studies, glossary and a download on vocational language skill acquisition, all available from the Basic Skills Agency

The 14-16 Good Practice Guide is a survey of emerging practice. More than Containment provides five case studies of programmes for 14-16 year olds with basic skills needs who are at risk from exclusion or have already been excluded. The Glossary of Terms is a jargon-busting glossary for schools, colleges and other providers in England. More than keywords is available as a download, and relates how young learners develop the language skill of a vocational subject. You may also want to check out the Skills and Work leaflets, which build on the successful Survival Skills leaflets to offer an overview of the speaking and listening, reading, writing and numeracy levels needed for different occupations.

You can find full details of the resources, including information on how to order, in Downloads.
