One-Stop-Shop for Dyslexia

Dyslexia Action is a national charity that helps improve lives through education.

dyslexia actionWith over 30 years experience and expertise, Dyslexia Action is the only organisation that provides a range of services and support for children and adults with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.

We specialise in assessment, teaching, and training as well as developing and distributing teaching and learning materials. We also conduct major research in the field of dyslexia where our tried and tested methodologies are widely accepted nationally and internationally.

Our services are available through our 25 centres and 160 teaching locations, including many schools, around the UK.

Dyslexia Action is dependent on fees from assessments, tuition and training courses, and income from sale of our products, as well as the generosity of benefactors. We employ over 250 specialist teachers, as well as our own chartered psychologists, speech and language therapists and support staff. Some 90 educational psychologists work with Dyslexia Action on a consultancy basis.

Our Range of Services

Assessments and Screening: designed for individuals who suspect that they might be dyslexic. Our assessments are carried out by independent psychologists with specialist knowledge of dyslexia or by specially trained teachers. All our psychologists are registered by the British Psychological society.

Teaching: We teach using multisensory techniques to children and adults in schools, colleges and in the workplace.

Teacher Training (University of York Accredited): Dyslexia Action's training department offers specialist courses for teachers and SENCOs, related professionals and parents right up to postgraduate level. We provide tailor made courses for schools, further education, and higher education as well in the workplace.

  • Postgraduate Diploma (Accredited by the University of York). Our e-learning model allows learning to be accommodating into today's lifestyles and suits learners from Aberdeen to New Zealand.

Workplace Consultancy: There is a growing need for Workplace Consultancy as employers seek to comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act, which recognises dyslexia as a disability. This might include work-focused psychological assessment followed up by a workplace consultation for individuals or groups.

Consultancy with schools or other providers: Dyslexia Action supports schools and other providers of specialist education in a variety of ways to ensure that all children are able to overcome their dyslexia.
