Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News UpdateA couple of key points in this edition of the e-news update: The newly published report 'Learning Curve: Schooling and skills for future jobs' from Centre for Cities makes interesting reading. It shows that between 2007 and 2010 an average of almost 50% of pupils in cities left the education system without A* to C grades in GCSE Maths and English. Full details below. Growth and Innovation Fund: Phase Two The Growth and Innovation fund helps employers develop their own innovative, sustainable skills solutions with the potential to transform growth in their sector, region or supply chain. The government will be providing £34 million for 2012-13 and there is still £29 million available to bid for. |

IfL employer grant for Initial Teacher Training Further education (FE) providers can claim a flat rate, non means tested grant of up to £400 per individual teacher or trainer through IfL for those who are IfL members. The ITT course must be a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), Skills for Life integrated DTLLS or the additional diploma, or PGCE/Cert Ed (in lifelong learning), and must be undertaken on a part time ‘in service’ basis. |
