Heather Hollands of SfL Materials writes:
"SfL Materials has just published a resource called: Reading in Health and Social Care. This is a paper-based set of activities to support the development of effective reading in the context of Health and Social care. It includes a set of source materials to be used for practice such as a Health and Safety Policy, Equality and Diversity Policy, job description and person specification plus others.
We have developed this resource in response to reports from providers that practitioners' skills in this vocational area often do not match the high literacy demands of the job. The pack is intended to be mediated by a tutor and includes teacher notes. It will help learners to get up to speed with their reading early on in their training - a transferable skill that will stand them in good stead for all future work and training!
We hope to soon be publishing a Writing in Health and Social Care resource and a Words for Health and Social Care pack. Materials are available direct from us or via our website: www.sflmaterials.co.uk "
