About Us

We help to develop you to inspire others. Our innovative programmes and projects are designed to equip you to make your mark in the fast changing world of education.

The Centre for Educational Studies (CES) is part of the Faculty of Education and has a national reputation for high-quality teaching and research. Our experienced and dedicated staff will help you achieve your goals. The Centre, whose head is Dr Trevor Male, is on the University's Hull campus. It has a range of facilities including a well-resourced education centre, which has two laboratories and a preparation room, and a computer suite equipped for teacher training. We also have an audiovisual room, a recording studio, access to a variety of training equipment and modern seminar rooms and classrooms.

We offer a large selection of full, part-time and online courses, from Foundation degrees to Masters and doctoral level programmes. Our courses include:

Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Office allows staff at schools and other learning organisations to broaden their knowledge and learn new skills. We believe professional learning is the most effective way to create sustainable change, allowing institutions and individuals to grow. We have a CPD co-ordinator who can visit you to discuss your CPD needs. They can also provide a list of programmes and courses.

Our Inter-Professional Services Centre for Children, Young People and Families helps professionals work together to provide excellent services for children, young people and families.

Our International Resource Centre (IRC) offers support and advice about global education and school international partnerships to schools, colleges and local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber. We have an international reputation and work with major organisations such as the British Council, the Department for Education and the Department for International Development.
