This free course traces the history of prisoner education in Britain, which started at the turn of the nineteenth century with schemes to improve the literacy and numeracy of prisoners.

A key recommendation in this new report from the Labour Party is that adults should be entitled to free digital skills courses up to level 2, in line with the equivalent English and maths entitlements.

The next meeting of the Essential Skills and Inclusion Network will be held online on the 11th of November. All Practitioners of English, Maths, ESOL, SEND and digital skills working in the prison sector are welcome.

New resources mapping the Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers to the career development of practitioners have been released by the Education and Training Foundation.
