New SEND practitioner self-assessment tool
A new SEND practitioner self-assessment tool has been produced by Success North at Newcastle College. Aimed at teachers, trainers and tutors who work with SEND learners on mainstream programmes or in discrete or specialised provision, the tool will enable you to assess and/or develop your knowledge and skills in supporting SEND learners.
The new tool has been produced by Success North at Newcastle College as part of the SEND Workforce Development Programme, led by the Education and Training Foundation on behalf of the Department for Education. It includes two pathways: the general practitioner assessment is for all practitioners to assess their knowledge and skills in supporting SEND learners, and the Level 5 self-assessment is for those practitioners who are interested in following a SEND specialist teacher training route.
‘Staff across the sector will benefit from this comprehensive and user-friendly tool which supports practitioners at all levels to develop a tailored understanding of their own knowledge and skills and help them to identify specific areas of improvement. Whether you are new to working with learners with SEND or have a wealth of experience you will find this extremely valuable for your own professional development.’ (Lisa Fernandes, Specialist Teacher Educator).
To access the tool, visit the the SEND exhibition site and click on the ‘SEND practitioner self-assessment tool’ link. If you haven’t previously registered on the Foundation Online Learning website you will need to do so to access the tool.
