New videos and guides to support maths teachers and trainers in the FE and Skills sector

The NCETM, working with partner organisations MEI and NIACE, has produced a set of short films and guides to support teachers and trainers in the FE sector working with students who have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade C or equivalent qualification in maths.

The material has been produced as part of the Maths Pipeline programme, commissioned and funded by the Education & Training Foundation (ETF).

The video material, broken down into 27 separate short clips, is organised into three broad categories:

  • GCSE teaching
  • Maths teaching within vocational areas
  • Construction
  • Hairdressing and Beauty
  • Health and Social Care
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Maths teaching in the Secure Estate (prisons and offender institutions)

There are also written guides to complement the vocational and prison-based videos, and a vocational numeracy route map, designed to help managers and teachers in colleges and training providers improve the quality of their maths provision.

All materials are also available for download in various different locations of the maths area of the ETF’s Excellence Gateway.
