Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News Update.
Some points of note in this edition:
Resources If you're looking to source materials for beginner readers, do take a look at the feature article on New Leaf Books.
The Resources section of the site continues to develop: there are new downloads, and you'll see more specialist suppliers of Skills for Life resources appearing in the Resource Showcase soon.
Professional Development The successful partnerships for the Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETTS) have been announced, and a report on the first stage of research on the Skills for Life Workforce has been published.
We also have information on a series of free events looking at the new continuing professional development and Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) regulations which come into force in September 2007.
In July, Lancaster University is hosting a Summer School that directly addresses the revised subject specifications being introduced this autumn. You can find full details in the feature article below.
If you work in the voluntary or community sector in the Greater Manchester area and wish to undertake Skills for Life teacher or supporter training, take a look at the new Supporting Skills for Life in Salford site section.
Finally, there are still places available on the 'Train the Trainer - Move on With Your Learners' event at Kendal College, Cumbria on the 7th of June.
Happy surfing!
