In case you missed the news on Functional Skills in apprenticeships in the previous e-news update, we've included the article again. You'll see that dual running of Key Skills and Functional Skills in apprenticeships has now been extended to the end of September 2012, to allow time for employers and providers to finalise their models for delivering Functional Skills within apprenticeship frameworks. Funding: The Skills Funding Agency has set out changes to funding policy for the learning and skills sector in 2011/12. There is an expectation that the sector will increase the level of income secured from individuals and employers, and 2.5% of providers' indicative allocation will be used for Job Outcome Incentive Payments. More details below. | LSIS Learning Fairs in the North of England Following on from the success of the first Teaching and Learning fair held at Newcastle College in December 2010, the second of three LSIS-funded Teaching and Learning fairs in the North of England is to take place at Bradford College on the of 18th of February, while the third will take place at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston on Wednesday the 16th of March. We also offer approved courses for the public, private hire and special needs transport sectors, which can be conducted on site or at our dedicated training facility in Essex. |

Skills Funding Agency Guidance Note on changes to funding policy The Skills Funding Agency (SFA) has published Guidance Note 6, a document which covers 2011/12 changes to funding policy. Success Factors in Skills for Life at Work Materials from these seminars held in November 2010 by CfBT Education Trust, LLU+ and City of Sunderland College are now available to download. The seminars focused on good practice in teaching literacy, numeracy/mathematics and English language to adults in low skilled employment. |
