Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News Update

We have news of the GCSE English Enhancement Programme in this edition of the update. This aims to train 1,400 teachers and trainers to teach GCSE English to people aged 16 and over, and follows on from the successful GCSE Maths Enhancement Programme. You'll see that the Education and Training Foundation are now tendering for work which aims to support education and training providers to drive up standards of teaching and learning in maths from entry levels to GCSE and beyond.

Resources: ESOL specialists may be interested in looking at the English My Way programme. This is designed specifically for people resident in the UK, whose English language abilities are below Entry Level 1 of the Adult ESOL Core Curriculum.

Driving forward improvement in maths teaching and learning
The Education and Training Foundation is tendering for this work, which aims to support education and training providers in a range of settings (including Further Education (FE), workplace, Community Learning, third sector and offender learning) to drive up standards of teaching and learning in maths from entry levels to GCSE and beyond.

Education and Training Foundation launches GCSE English Enhancement Programme
The Education and Training Foundation has announced the appointment of the delivery management partner and regional specialist English leads for its GCSE English Enhancement programme (EEP) which will train 1,400 teachers and trainers to teach GCSE English to people aged 16 and over.
