Three-day CPD Events

The open three-day CPD events for 6 cohorts which we offered between June 2018 and December 2019 left the participants buzzing with inspiration and we are delighted that a similar response greeted our recent ‘pure’ non-residential in-house three-day programmes at Bradford College and Leeds College of Building.

Now we are offering two more ETF subsidised in-house programmes ‘Developing Advanced Practitioners’ first at Kensington and Chelsea College and then at Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College. Plans beyond March 2020 are soon to be decided and we will let you know what’s in store as soon as we can. Suffice to say that, in any future CPD, the new in-house non-residential model is likely to be the norm.

Action! If you are interested in training a team of AP’s in-house, please contact Alison Tanik to register your interest. Do register early as places may go fast.

Thinking Environment CPD

The Thinking Environment, brainchild of Nancy Kline, has proved a powerful enabler in all strands of the Advanced Practitioner Development Programme and many of our participants have returned to work determined to apply its principles and strategies in their own institutions as evidenced in our Communities of Practice.

Our pilot Thinking Environment workshop on Saturday 11th of January for over twenty trainers and education consultants was a response to popular request. Run by Lou Mycroft and Bryony Dinsdale, it was a huge success, with many of the participants declaring it to have profoundly influenced their thinking and practice. All acknowledged its potential impact on their future teaching and management and believed it could truly open doors.

The day included an exploration of the Ten Components of The Thinking Environment, and a number of practical sessions devoted to Thinking Pairs, Dialogue and a Thinking Council. To learn more about these, you may like to look at Creating Spaces to Think in Further Education and Training and/or register to attend one of our future workshops yourself.

We are currently planning another workshop in Burton upon Trent. It will be on a Saturday (date to be confirmed). If you are interested do let Alison Tanik know.
