Provider achievements from the Education and Training Foundation’s reimagined Study Programme support initiative were showcased at this celebratory conference held in Birmingham on the 13th of March.

Over the past seven months, 16-19 study programme providers have benefited from support combining cutting-edge content with effective professional development pedagogies for lasting impact. Supported by a dedicated mentor, each provider tailored a bespoke intervention to their needs. Alongside mentor support, study programme teams accessed up to two in-house modules, as well as bespoke modules:

  • Curriculum: co-creating with employers
  • Work experience: developing learners’ knowledge, behaviour and skills
  • Using maths and English confidently in your vocation
  • Social action: becoming active community members

Provider teams were supported by a responsive community of practice, emerging to meet their professional needs.

#StudyGood, delivered by touchconsulting Ltd on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation, is ‘Good Help’, in Nesta UK’s 2018 definition: Enabling everyone involved to ‘feel hopeful, identify their own purpose and confidently take action.’

Joss Kang, Director of touchconsulting Ltd, writes:

“The conference took place on 13 March 2020. It was a little touch and go as this was the Friday before our world as we know it changed due to the COVID-19 virus with travel restrictions and lock-downs, enforced on the Monday. 31/55 delegates attended. 3/9 workshops pulled out at the last minute due to provider travel restrictions and we reconfigured the day on the day as we just didn’t know who would attend.

The event was a resounding success with excellent feedback, with 100% agreeing strongly or agreeing with each of the standard statements on ETF’s feedback form. The conference Padlet containing the conference booklet, all provider presentations and the beautiful graphical representations captured by our visual artist are accessible to everyone.”

Conference participants were also introduced to the three #StudyGood guides which have been written for the programme.

“We are at the start of a very long and challenging journey but it’s good to know I have a hand to hold along the way.”

“Supported us to build better relationships with our work experience providers to offer more bespoke work experience to our learners.”

“It’s been so wonderful and really helped our learners as staff are better informed as a result of the CPD sessions.”

“It has given staff the opportunity to receive bespoke training aimed at the sector by people who understand it, and this has allowed for richer conversations and reflections.”
