Focus guides

We are delighted to introduce you to our new guide for leaders and managers which is the fifth in our AP toolkit. Entitled ‘How managers can support and develop Advanced Practitioners – an organisational approach’, the new guide responds to the call across the sector for APs to play a pivotal role in quality improvement. It sets out ways in which managers can maximise the impact of APs across their organisation, using both theory and practice, and establish a whole organisation approach to change.

As with our other guides, there are helpful ‘reflective questions’, ‘top tips’ and visual displays in each chapter that enable you quickly to distil the main points and act on them. This way you can use the guide for reference by dipping into key passages or you can read through the whole document, depending on your focus of interest and your role.

The guide is aimed at:

  • senior managers
  • quality managers
  • staff development and learning managers
  • teaching and learning improvement managers.

It can be used by individuals or teams to assist in planning and is an essential resource.

Remember that the AP Toolkit, with its set of Development Cards and original 4 AP Practical Guides, is still proving to be fundamental to the work of APs.  Do consult this kit which captures the spirit of the AP role and provides numerous strategies for working with teams of staff to develop excellence.

Here are the 4 original guides:
