Connecting APs Event

10:30am – 4pm, Friday 19th October, Central Birmingham

Have you seen the invite to our first face-to-face CoP event? Have you snapped up your fully subsidised place?

We love the vibrancy of the Communities of Practice strand of the Professional Development Programme for Advanced Practitioners. It was great to meet APs via the Zoom inductions and we’re enjoying hearing how your Quality Improvement Projects are shaping up.

We’ve also been listening to you, about what works best for you in a community of practice. Many of you told us that you would really love a day together, to get to know your Action Learning Set (ALS) colleagues for real. So here it is!

COP event

Friday 19th October 2018 is the date and the Connecting APs Event will take place in Central Birmingham, just a few minutes’ walk from New Street station. Lunch and refreshments are provided, and the day will run from 10.15am (for a 10.30am start) to a 4pm sharp finish.

26 places have already been snapped up and places are booking up fast. You are in for a real treat with Lou, Punam and your AP peers. Don’t miss out on this great networking and professional development opportunity. We’ll send everyone who has booked more details closer to the time, but here’s a run down of what we’re planning:

APConnect Wireframe

We listened when you told us that you’d like more structure in Canvas! Over the summer, we’ve been putting together the APConnect Wireframe, a set of ‘online ‘modules’ which will help guide you through your AP experience.

Module 1 will be available to you from Monday 17th September. You’ll notice that when you log onto Canvas, another ‘course’ appears, click on it and you’ll be into the wireframe.

We’ve developed the wireframe to help you get the most out of your Communities of Practice experience. Each of the seven modules is designed to create a thinking space. As you complete each module, the next will open up. There are lots of videos, welcoming words and screencasts to help you work through – and there is a digital badge for each activity you complete!

The modules are:

  1. Knowing You, Knowing Us
  2. Your Project
  3. Professional Standards
  4. Action Learning Sets
  5. Matrix of Opportunities
  6. APConnections Event
  7. Thinking Environment
  8. Who are your People?
COPPS

Feel free to dive in and make a start from Monday 17th of September. If you prefer a walk-through, online briefings to introduce the APConnect wireframe will take you through how to access the modules that have been developed to assist you in your AP journey, to allow you to take stock and plan your next steps. This will enable you to capture the progress and impact of your project and also share with your colleagues. Please sign up to one of the following sessions via this Doodlepoll link

  • 20th September 4.15 pm – 4.45 pm
  • 21st September 12.30 pm – 1pm
  • 25th September 8.45 am – 9.15 am or 4.15-4.45
  • 26th September 12.30 pm – 1pm
