Mindful Toolkit

About

The Mindful Toolkit is designed to support prisoners with a range of SEND needs, and has a focus on mental well-being.

Midfull ToolkitThe materials in the Toolkit were created/gathered and trialled by a goup of prison-based learning support specialists working with prisoners who have special educational needs and disabilities in four prisons in the North West of England as part of a Professional Exchange Project, funded by the Education and Training Foundation and led by PD North.

The Toolkit has a focus on mental well-being, as this was an area where the team identified a gap in current support for prisoners, however it could also be used with learners in a range of education and training sector contexts. Each task card is mapped to a SEND pathway:

  • Communication and interaction
  • Learning and cognition
  • Social, emotional and mental health
  • Sensory and hearing impairments.

To see the Toolkit in action, take a look at this Wakelet collection.
