GCSE maths resits: pass rate falls

GCSE results 2025

The pass rate for GCSE maths resits in England has fallen, with November’s exam results showing 22.9% of maths entries were awarded grade 4, a standard pass, or above, down from 24.9% in 2022 and 26.9% in 2019.

However, the pass rate for GCSE English resits rose to 40.3% – up from 38% and 32.3% respectively.

The overall GCSE pass rate fell last summer, when grades in England were brought back in line with pre-pandemic levels.
