About Us

Newcastle College School of Education leads "Success North" Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETT), and offers a wide range of teacher training programmes. We are proud of our flexible provision which includes English, Maths and SEND/LDD specialist teacher education programmes. We offer programmes from Level 3 to Level 7 (Masters) for teachers and trainers, assessor and verifier qualifications and BA (Hons) and Masters programmes so have something for people across all education roles.


Higher Education Level  Courses

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Young People and Adult Learning Specialists (full or part-time) 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education for English Literacy, Language and ESOL Specialists (full or part-time) 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Mathematics and Numeracy Specialists (full or part-time) 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Specialists in Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (full or part-time) 
  • Professional Graduate Certificate in Education for Young People and Adult Learning Specialists (full or part-time) 
  • Foundation Degree Education and Training (including DTLLS) – (full or part-time)

  • CELTA - Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (16 week part-time or 4 week intensive courses) 
  • Award in Education and Training (PTLLS) (12 week part-time or 5 day intensive courses) 
  • Certificate in Education and Training (CTLLS) (part-time)
  • TAQA (Training, Assessment, Quality Assurance) - Level 3 Award or Level 4 Certificate in Assessment 
  • TAQA (Training, Assessment, Quality Assurance) - Level 4 Award or Certificate in Internal Quality Assurance


Apprenticeships

The School of Education will soon be offering the following apprenticeships:

  • Further Education Learning and Skills Teacher (Level 5) 
  • Further and Higher Education Assessor Coach (Level 4)
  • Further and Higher Education Learning Mentor (Level 3)

We help employers:

  • support development and effectiveness of staff through bespoke professional development programmes

We also run a broad range of professional development workshops, programmes and events for support staff, teachers, trainers and managers. Our provision is widely recognised and we pride ourselves on the breadth and quality of our programmes. We understand that providers will often require bespoke training in order to meet their own unique training requirements and we are happy to accommodate individual needs.
