An update on the piloting of this new grant that is aimed at encouraging adults to participate and to stay in learning
The Adult Learning Grant is a means tested allowance of up to £30 per week for adults on low incomes, who are resident in England and studying full time for a first Level 2 or first Level 3 qualification.
ALG pilots have been running since 2003/2004. From September 2006 ALG is being piloted in 25 LSC areas and the LSC anticipate that over 11,000 learners will receive ALG in 2006/2007. Full national coverage will take place in 2007/2008.
