New interactive resources to support functional skills maths and English are now available on the BBC Bitesize website
The resources comprise learner guides, made up of video and short interactive activities to help learners check their understanding. The learner guides are set in the real world and organised into the job roles that may be familiar to them, like Sport and Leisure and Hair and Beauty. The guides feature people working through, for example, a maths problem in a hairdressing salon or using their English skills in their job at a gym.
There are also some learner guides called English Explained and Maths Explained. These are a reminder of key concepts, such as “Place value and decimal places” or “Using punctuation to write better sentences”.
At the moment the content is set in the Hair and Beauty and Sport and Leisure sectors. By Spring 2018 there will be many more sectors represented, including popular vocational areas and apprenticeship areas like Business Administration, Catering, Construction, Retail, and Health and Social Care.
