‘The BBC has chosen four cities and towns across the UK, one of which includes Middlesbrough, for a creative, non-threatening concentrated effort over the next year to encourage adults to have fun and enjoyment around reading and writing. For more information read on…….
This is the first get together in Middlesbrough for people from a wide range of sectors to have a real creative input into the planning process and to take ownership when we move forward. The afternoon will be all about how you and your organisation or venue can play a significant role in the initiative.
An exciting range of free resources and support will be available from the BBC to achieve the aim and your partnership and input will be invaluable on the ground to make a real impact across local communities.
The free range of exciting promotional resources include brand new books by top selling authors, magazines, DVD’s, quizzes, posters and easy step by step guides on how to set up reading groups and book swaps to stimulate engaging activity.
The afternoon will be really informal, Middlesbrough is your town and your local knowledge will be crucial to make the campaign work. A top prize will be on offer for the best suggestion to encourage more people to read and write as well as small spot prizes throughout the afternoon to reward your efforts.
I do hope you can make the effort to attend the event. You need to reserve a place by contacting the regional BBC Learning Project Manager on the details below.’
