Is there an aspect of your role that you would like to develop, working with like minded professionals?

Become part of a dedicated community sharing resources and expertise with your own network meetings and website. Find out how your organisation can become a member of Professional Development North (PD North), the Northern Professional Exchange for tutors, trainers, assessors and programme managers working in the education and training sector.

“Sharing and collaboration are key to this profession and I am proud to be a part of that.” PD North member, Myerscough College

“I’ve gained a new approach to behaviour management. Lots of ideas to try.” PD North member, Manchester Adult Education Service

“It was a very worthwhile day. I have updated my knowledge and met some fantastic people.” PD North member, Calderdale College

What is a Professional Exchange?

Professional Exchanges are regional hubs that enable teachers and middle managers to share their knowledge and skills. Supported by the Education and Training Foundation, there are currently over 2500 members of the Exchanges nationally.

Why join PD North?

Joining PD North will enable you to share and develop your practice within your subject specialist area. You’ll meet with subject specialists from your own and other organisations in the North of England. For example, if your specialism is functional skills, you could join a group looking at preparing functional skills learners for GCSE.

You’ll also have the opportunity to further develop your professional practice by joining a cross cutting project group. Some example project group topics are: assessment for learning, digital technologies, motivating learners, using data to improve success rates.

What’s involved?

You’ll meet four times (face to face or online) with your subject specialist group, and with your project group(s) if you choose to get involved in one. You’ll be able to network and share between meetings via email and social media, and will have ongoing support from the PD North team.

How do we join?

To join and for further information, contact your PD North Regional Lead:

Organisational Membership of PD North costs £100 per year.
