Level 4 Subject Specialist programmes on offer at South Tyneside, Bishop Auckland and Newcastle Colleges

Level 4 Certificate in Adult Literacy Subject Specialist Teaching

South Tyneside College is offering the opportunity to obtain the Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Adult Literacy Subject Specialist, following an innovative programme, at the main South Shields site.

This specific course is designed for those wanting to specialise in the teaching of Literacy who would like to gain this qualification before the specifications change.

The course will be delivered over six months.
Start: January 2007
End : July 2007

The programme will consist of: At least 12 full days contact time, spread over the duration of the course.

The course will be delivered using lectures, guest speakers, workshops, tutorials and VLE support. A residential will be included.

Placement opportunities can be provided where candidates do not have access to learners.

There will be an induction evening on Thursday 25 January at 4pm in The Learning Centre, Westoe site, South Shields.

Bishop Auckland College

Level 4 Certificate in Adult Numeracy

‘If you are looking for a quick and relatively painless route to gain this qualification, then look no further. Bishop Auckland College are offering a six month course allowing you to study through a friendly, flexible approach that will include some distance and e-learning as well as intensive daytime, taught sessions for the mathematics units.

Newcastle College Courses

Level 4 literacy subject specialism designed for ESOL specialists

Newcastle College is pleased to announce that it will be running a level 4 Literacy Subject Specialism specifically for ESOL subject specialists who are looking at broadening their skills base.

Start: January 2007
End: July 2007

Approach: Blended learning with a minimum of ten full days contact.

Qualification: C&G 9485

Entry requirements: Candidates should have or be working towards a subject specialism in ESOL teaching for example, Cambridge Certificate in FE Teaching stg 3 and Cert for ESOL subject specialists, Cert Ed and CELTA, DELTA/DTEFLA and Cert ED or equivalent.

Level 4 literacy subject specialism combined with a Certificate in Education

Newcastle College is pleased to announce that it will be running a fully integrated level 4 Literacy Subject Specialism with Certificate in Education beginning in February.

Start: February 2007
End: July 2008

Approach: An interesting mix of highly interactive seminars, workshops, VLE, hands on tutorial and observation sessions.

Qualification: Certificate in Education for Literacy Specialists (Leeds Metropolitan University)

Entry requirements: No previous teaching experience is necessary although it is an advantage to have had some experience of working with learners with literacy needs. If you do not have a teaching placement, this will be provided for you. Further entry requirements will be discussed at our information giving event.
