Guided tours and an online quiz to support Skills for Life learners are on offer at Victoria Baths, Manchester
Victoria Baths begins its long-awaited restoration work in 2007 and the staff are preparing to make the most of the unique and exciting learning opportunities this offers.
The Baths provide many opportunities for Skills for Life teachers to support the literacy, numeracy and language needs of their learners. There is a quiz, available in paper-based and online formats, with questions designed to enable learners to discover more about the Baths whilst honing their word and number skills. The online version is accessible to everyone everywhere – just go to www.waterpalace.org.uk and have a go! You will also find some downloadable numeracy activity sheets and ideas on activities for your visit.
The building will be open to educational visits from March to October with tours tailored to suit any age group and a pack with ideas for related activity. There will be views onto the restoration site where work will include the replacement of floors, terracotta repairs and the restoration of mosaic and glass block floors and stained glass windows – lots to interest and inspire learners of all ages. A free information pack for teachers is available from info@victoriabaths.org.uk or by telephoning 0161 224 2020. To find out lots more about Victoria Baths, visit www.victoriabaths.org.uk
