Whitby Esk Energy: buy a share in a community hydro project

Skills for Life Network

Whitby Esk Energy

This community project is offering you a chance to help to produce ‘green’ energy thereby reducing carbon emissions, to produce a regular income to finance continuing carbon reducing projects and give you a return on your investment.

You have until the 18th September to buy shares in Whitby Esk Energy.

Applications are now coming in from round the country for a share issue of £320,000 in Esk Energy (Yorkshire) Limited to fund the Whitby Esk Energy project. The funds raised by the share issue will be used to install a 50kw hydroelectric turbine, using a ‘fish friendly’ Archimedes screw, on the River Esk near Whitby.

Shares are available from as little as £250 (up to a maximum of £20,000). Visit the project website for further information.

Buying shares is an ideal way to act to offset carbon emissions and help promote renewable energy.
