About

Yes We Can Read

Author: Libby Coleman & Nick Ainley

ISBN: 9781842310755

Yes We Can Read is a unique phonics-based programme developed to teach adult learners to read. With no prior phonics instruction necessary, you are guided to teach individual phonic sounds and blended sounds, building words and sentences, and developing ‘reading for meaning’. With just a couple of short sessions each week, a learner can be reading fluently within 6 months.

This is a fun and engaging way to learn, for anyone who has struggled to read, building confidence and self-esteem in both the coach and learner. The programme is ideal for learners with Dyslexia, due to its unique photo-alphabet, well-spaced text and easy-to-read font printed on cream paper.

Yes We Can Read is widely used in adult learning & community education, in hostels, prisons & YOI’s, in libraries and reading groups, and in SEN teaching:

“I have seen the magical way this book activates the decoding ability of the student, and how quickly they can progress through the pages.” Adult Learning Programme Director

“Gently and non-critically working one to one helps to establish self-belief, and Yes We Can Read does the rest… Neither of my learners is dyslexic but both found the phonic, pictorial alphabet the key to making letters into readable words. They’ve independently told me that until now, nothing they’d tried had worked.” Tutor

“I am 61 and I am reading at long last… I’m proving to myself each day that I can do it. Now I have something to look forward to.” Adult Learner
