Newcastle College is currently accepting applications for FE teacher training courses with bursary support of up to £26000, with places being allocated on a first come first served basis.
Incentive programmes for the recruitment and retention of teachers in FE
This research, commissioned by the DfE and carried out by CooperGibson Research, aimed to identify the strategies or incentives which may most effectively drive recruitment and retention of FE teachers. A key finding was that although financial incentives may help drive recruitment, high-quality mentoring and support are key to retention.

An Introduction to Practitioner-led Research
The OTLA team in the North East and Cumbria have developed a one-day introductory course for practitioners in Education and Training settings who may be new to practitioner-led research. The course aims to introduce them to a range of practical strategies for investigating, evaluating and improving their teaching and emphasises the necessity of working with other staff in order to understand and change teaching practices in differing contexts.
