Yes We Can Read is a phonics-based programme to develop reading for meaning with a unique photo-alphabet which makes it particularly helpful for learners with dyslexia.

These programmes offer literacy, numeracy and Functional Skills teachers the opportunity to become fully qualified more quickly. Courses are delivered by the Essential Skills Resource Centre, University of Warwick, who have successfully taught programmes for the last 8 years.

This month MindLeaders releases U-skills for Functional Skills, a new blended learning model to deliver the tougher basic skills qualifications in Maths and English. Already proven in pilots with workplace learners, the blended solution uses ePortfolios to introduce collaborative online learning to Functional Skills delivery for the first time.
Trinity College London is holding its UK ESOL teacher seminars again this November 2011. The seminars are free to attend and lunch is provided for all day delegates. Certificates of Attendance will be issued.

MindLeaders ThirdForce has an innovative blended solution to the challenge presented by Functional Skills. We carried out a Functional Skills pilot with two large national employers. It was a truly robust pilot choosing learners with a range of ages, previous learning experiences and a wide geographical spread to really road test our delivery model. Our results were: First Time Pass Rates – 91% and average Completion Times – 8-12 weeks.
